On Wednesday 13th January, Summer Jones, year 9, challenged herself to stay silent from 9am – 1pm to raise funds for We CAN… Charitable Trust! For Summer, this was no easy task! Usually Wyre’s chief chatterbox, Summer did extremely well to keep quiet for the full 4 hours. Summer managed to raise a whopping £119 in sponsorship money for the trust, which she was very proud of.
We asked Summer how she felt about the experience and this is what she had to say:
What made you want to raise money for We CAN… Charitable Trust?
I wanted to raise money to help to help children at this school so we can have the things we need.
How did you think of the idea of a sponsored silence?
I was talking too much in class. after talking to miss Bayliss, we shared an idea of doing a sponsored silence.
Was it difficult to stay silent for all that time?
Yes because people were talking to me and I usually talk a lot!
What advice would you give to others who wanted to raise money for our cause?
Just do it! It will be a good thing to do to help.
A massive well done Summer!
