Our Humanities course leads to accreditation at Entry 2 and Entry 3 for the WJEC Entry Pathways in Humanities. The course is split into several units; each earning credits, and can be very flexible dependent upon the interests of the students. The first year tends to focus on History and the various aspects of WW2 and we start with a bit of a movie marathon to gain an insight into ‘Life during the Blitz’ and ‘The Holocaust’. The second year looks more at ‘Renewable Energy’ and ‘Environmental Awareness’ to promote responsible citizenship and community action. Where possible we will help out at a local nature reserve and introduce the students to geocaching. The students will create a portfolio of their work to send to the examiners which can include drawings/ posters/ Power Points/ Word Documents/ video recordings/ completed worksheets/ photographic evidence and any other work that meets the required criteria to show an understanding of the topics covered.
The majority of work needs to be completed independently with extra support permitted around the use of ICT and literacy.
