Useful Information

Parent Carer Forums

The parent carer forums are facilitated by Child and Family Support Liaison Officers (Liaison Officers), contacts at the end of this email. Any parent carer whom has a child/young person aged 0-25 years is able to attend for information, signposting and support. Questions can be raised at these forums that the Liaison Officers will either answer or find out the information. Forums are set up in a way that allows virtual attendance via emails to assist those who cannot attend in person to receive information and forum notes which are distributed to all who attend or request them. Central emails include information that is relevant in between these forums and are sent to parents registered on the FIND Service Database (see below). Liaison Officers arrange for guest speakers to attend local forums to speak directly to parents to give information on their service and answer questions. Liaison Officers also arrange evening family events to allow working parents to attend and find out information.

This service offers a free quarterly newsletter for families in Lancashire to help keep them informed about services and support which may be relevant, this can also be sent electronically to professionals. If you wish to receive the newsletter please see- FIND@lancashire.gov.uk to be included in the distribution list.

The FIND Newsletter goes direct to over 2500 families in Lancashire. Families need to sign up for their own copy to be delivered direct to them by completing a Record of Entry form. This can be completed in hard copy or submitted electronically. The downloadable, printable copy of the record of entry and the online version can be found at http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/special-educational-needs-and-disabilities/help-for-parents-and-carers/family-information-network-directory.aspx Families are invited to submit details about their child to the database, which is used to develop an overview of the needs of SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities) children across the county to assist with planning services. The FIND service is strictly confidential - no individual information about any children or their families is shared with anyone.
