Five-a-side tournament

On 1st March the final five-a-side tournament of the season took place at The Soccerdome in Blackburn. Our under 16s boys and girls took part in a knockout competition against other special schools across Lancashire. Both teams performed really well. Last year our boys won the competition, however this time it was the girls who finished in a creditable third place. Well done to all the pupils that took part in the football; a great experience for all.

College Links

Since Christmas the year 14s have been attending Nelson & Colne College on a college links course. We are currently studying hair and beauty. We have been in the salon having our hair washed and blow dried and the lads have had theirs styled. The students have used the dolls heads to practice washing and blow drying. We have tried to learn five different types of plaits. We have also experimented with nail art and body art. Awais has even done a little bit of cutting on the dolls hair.

Boccia Tournament

In January four of our year 11 students took part in a Lancashire Boccia Tournament at QEGS in Blackburn. They competed really well in a game where finesse and accuracy prevail over strength and stamina. They did the school proud winning three out of their five games. Well done, Farhan, Jensen, Sam and Abdul; the Boccia boys.

World Book Day

2017 03 02 11.21.06

World Book day was celebrated in style by the whole school and College. The Super Hero or Hero theme certainly inspired all our students into creating some really exciting costumes. A special assembly showcased all of the students' costumes as they paraded around the hall. It was so difficult for Mrs Lingard and Ms Bayliss to choose a winner from each class as everyone had put so much effort into their designs. All students were sent home with a £1.00 token to redeem against a book from our own Scholastics Book Club, W.H.Smiths, Asda or Sainsburys.
